Man arrested after bank robberies in Raleigh's Village District and Angier

Raleigh police announced the arrest of a man accused of two bank robberies Thursday: One Raleigh's Village District and the other in Angier.

Authorities arrested Nicholas McLeod on Thursday in Vance County. The 28-year-old is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping.

McLeod’s arrest came after police responded around 11:46 a.m. Thursday to the Truist Bank at 611 Oberlin Road in reference to a bank robbery.

According to the police, a man entered the Truist Bank, handed an employee a note demanding money and left in a car with $2,050 cash.

An arrest warrant states McLeod handed the Truist Bank employee a note to "not make sound, I have a gun ... put all the 50's and 100's in an envelope... if you use dye pack will turn around and shoot you."

At 10:58 a.m., police said a man walked into the SECU at 1305 North Raleigh St. in Angier. He also handed someone a note demanding money before leaving in car going north toward Fuquay-Varina.
