Precautionary lockdown lifted at East Garner Middle after reports of gun near campus

East Garner Middle School was on a brief lockdown after receiving a report of suspicious person near campus, school officials sent in a note to parents. 

Around 7:15 a.m. Friday, police responded to the school after someone reported a person with a gun was near campus.

The school was placed on a precautionary Code Red Lockdown. 

Police said the person left the area, and later determined they did not have a gun.

The lockdown was lifted around 7:30 a.m., and school resumed normal operations. 

 On the other side of Wake County, Green Hope Elementary was also on a brief Code Yellow lockdown due to police presence in the area. By 9:15 a.m., the school was on Code Green.
