One child dead, another hospitalized after being found unresponsive at Durham home

One child is dead and another hospitalized after Durham police found them unresponsive at a home Thursday night.

According the police, officers found the two small children around 5:26 p.m. in a home on Chartwell Court.

Sky 5 flew over to the neighborhood and saw several vehicles with Durham police and Durham County EMS.

Both of the children were taken to the hospital, where one of them died. The status of the second child was not immediately available.

Forensics investigators remained at the home through 7 a.m. Friday collecting evidence and towing an SUV that was outside of the home.
