Crews restore power to over 300 people, clean up downed lines on US 64 near Apex overnight

Over 300 Duke Energy customers were without power early Friday morning on the Wake/Chatham counties line after power lines were brought down. 

As of 4:30 a.m., crews cleared the scene and downed lines, and restored power.

According to Apex police, at around 12:30 a.m., a construction vehicle struck communication lines and knocked down a power line on U.S. Highway 64 near New Hill Olive Chapel Road. 

Police said all the lines on the pole fell across US 64, blocking both lanes. 

Apex police and fire covered their side of the county line, and Chatham County covered their side, according to Apex police. Duke Energy reported the outage but AT&T was on the scene to help. 

According to the Duke Energy outages map, roughly 314 customers were without power west of the crash on US 64 at the time of the crash.
