A nurse who worked at UNC Rex and faces charges of sexual assault was ordered to undergo testing for sexually transmitted diseases.
Brayan Alvarez-Ortiz, 28, was arrested Dec. 10 on allegations he sexually assaulted at least two patients at the hospital who were under the effects of sedatives. The alleged crimes took place Nov. 3, were reported to the hospital on Nov. 19, and Alvarez-Ortiz was fired from UNC Rex on Nov. 25.

The court order, dated two days after Alvarez-Ortiz's arrest, says, "THE COURT FINDS that the alleged sexual contact involved in the offense would pose significant risk of transmission of sexually transmitted infection."
He will have to be tested by Wake County Health Department, and the department will report the results of that testing to the District Attorney's Office.
