The driver of a truck that plowed into six vehicles waiting for a light to change on U.S. Highway 70 in Goldsboro failed to reduce speed, causing the dramatic crash that injured 11 people, the State Highway Patrol said Monday.
Alin Bosa, 46, of Niles, Ill., was driving the truck when he crashed into a line of stopped vehicles just before 1 p.m. Saturday, troopers said. He faces a single charge in connection with the crash, but additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

According to Goldsboro police, 11 people were injured on US-70 at North Oak Forest Road. Five people told first responders they did not need medical treatment, four were taken to UNC Health Wayne, and two were were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center. Both of those people were in serious condition Monday.
Rico McDowell, a military veteran, captured the moments the tractor-trailer rammed into cars on his dash camera.
He said he was one of the first on the scene, calling 911 and jumped out to help.
“I was in total shock,” McDowell said. “I have been in several vehicle accidents myself but nothing to that magnitude. To hear the sound of the metal crushing and cars flying around… I was in total shock.”
Photos shared by McDowell show some cars facing the wrong direction and others with parts scattered across the road.
"If I could describe it, it's like taking a soda can and just crushing it together," McDowell continued. "And that's the idea, all that metal that was just wrapped all over the place. I have never seen a vehicle torn up like that in my life."
The road reopened just before 5 p.m. on Saturday.
