Jordan-Matthews a winner of Big Lots contest

SILER CITY, N.C. —  A Siler City high school has won $2,000 as part of a national video contest sponsored by Big Lots.

Thirty-five schools across the country, including Jordan-Matthews High School, were selected from 116 schools that competed for a share of $100,000 in cash prizes.

The discount store chain asked schools to submit a short video and essay about why they needed financial support.

The $20,000 grand prize went to Wayne Memorial High School in Wayne, Mich.

Big Lots will present the $2,000 to Jordan-Matthews on Friday.
