Posted — UpdatedFORT BRAGG, N.C. — Ninety members of an Army medical brigade based at Fort Bragg will leave this month for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
A deployment ceremony was held Friday at Dahl Gym to bid farewell to the 44th Medical Brigade.
Members will support more than 40 medical units in Afghanistan. They will provide mental, dental, veterinary and preventive care to soldiers serving there.
The 44th Medical Brigade was created in 1965, has served in wars from Vietnam to Iraq and provided humanitarian assistance to hurricane victims in America, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Central America.
