<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Cathy N. Davidson, a professor in the literature department at Duke University, was appointed to the National Council on the Humanities, the White House announced Wednesday.

Davidson is currently the Ruth F. Devarney Professor of English and Interim Director at Duke. Her research focuses on the history and theory of technology, according to Duke's web site. 

Her council appointment expires Jan. 26, 2016.
