Symphony reaches fundraising goal

In raising more than $8 million in the past year, the North Carolina Symphony has met its goal and qualified for an additional $1.5 million from the state legislature.

RALEIGH, N.C. — In raising more than $8 million in the past year, the North Carolina Symphony has met its goal and qualified for an additional $1.5 million from the state legislature.

Through ticket sales and more than 3,900 individual and corporate contributions the symphony generated $8,044,000 in earned and contributed income for the 2009-10 season.

The symphony’s fiscal year ended on June 30.

In the 2010-11 concert season, the symphony will welcome guest performances by global piano superstar Lang Lang and audience favorites Pink Martini, Cirque de la Symphonie and Marvin Hamlisch.
