EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — A car rear-ended an Edgecombe County school bus Friday afternoon near Wiggins Crossroad, a school district spokeswoman said.

At about 2:50 p.m., a car plowed into bus No. 286, according to John Westberg, principal of SouthWest Edgecombe High School.

No one on the bus was hurt, but the back window and bumper were damaged. The driver and a passenger from the car were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
