Durham honors peace officers

The Durham County Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police paid tribute Friday to the sacrifices of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and their families.

DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham County Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police paid tribute Friday to the sacrifices of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and their families.

The annual Durham Peace Officers Memorial Service was held at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, at 504 W. Chapel Hill St., across from police headquarters.

The service honored 10 Durham County officers who died on duty over the past century and six law enforcement officers from across the state who died between April 2009 and April 2010.
