CARY, N.C. — More than 200 jump rope athletes from five regional teams vied for top spots at a USA Jump Rope regional competition hosted by the Cary YMCA Superskippers April 10 at Green Hope High School.

The Cary Superskippers team and the Bouncing Bulldogs of Chapel Hill shared the majority of top-place finishes, each garnering close to 100 of the top qualifying spots.

Hundreds of jumpers participated while spectators watched the teams compete at events such as speed, power, pairs and Double Dutch, at the U.S. Amateur Jump Rope Competition.

Teams included the Bouncing Bulldogs and Skipsations!, both from Chapel Hill; Tri-Force and Cary Superskippers, both from Cary; and Double Dutch Forces of Columbia, S.C.

The Cary Superskippers swept the top three finishing spots in the female 13-14-year-old age group for individual freestyle events. And the Superskippers and Tri-Force, both of Cary, won the top three spots in the female 15-17-year-old pairs freestyle events. Superskippers also had many top finishes in the Double Dutch events in all age groups.

The top four qualifiers in events in each age group will compete this summer at the USA Jump Rope competition in Galveston, Texas.
