Mount Olive, N.C. — Mount Olive College inaugurated its fourth president at a ceremony Friday afternoon in the college's Kornegay Arena.
Phillip K. Kerstetter was formally installed in the position that he had held since July 2009. He spoke about his vision and plans for the college.
He was welcomed by speakers from the board of trustees, Original Free Will Baptist Church, state and regional education groups and local and state government.
Mount Olive trustees elected Kerstetter as president after a nationwide, yearlong search. He succeeded J. William Boyd, who stepped down to become the college's chancellor.
Kerstetter has worked in higher education for 35 years and was most recently president of Kansas Wesleyan University. He holds a B.A. in religion from Bucknell University, a M.Ed. in college counseling from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in special education administration from Gallaudet University.
