Sam McBroom, a driver for Orange County Schools, was named a runner up in the national driver of the year contest sponsored by school bus manufacturer Thomas Built Buses.
McBroom was nominated for the title by one of his passengers, who submitted an essay to the High Point company extolling McBroom's work.
