RALEIGH, N.C. — Danny Coghill was 3 years old when his father took him and his 5-year-old brother, David, to the 1959 North Carolina State Fair.

The green swing ride isn't around anymore but Coghill's memories of fun times at the Fair remain.

This year, the fair is held Oct. 15-25 at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Discount tickets are on sale online through Oct. 15. Adult tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the gate. Children’s tickets are $1 in advance or $2 at the gate. Children 5 and under and seniors age 65 and older get in free.

Ride sheets can also be purchased in advance for $10 for a sheet of 18 tickets.
