RALEIGH, N.C. — The board of North Carolina Theatre has appointed Lisa Grele Barrie as its new executive director.

Barrie has been serving as interim executive director since the October departure of William Jones. She was chosen after a nationwide search led by the consultant firm Armstrong McGuire, LLC.

Barrie joined Theatre as development director in 2003. She was promoted to managing director at the beginning of 2008, and has worked to forge many partnerships and collaborations.

“I am honored and excited to lead N.C. Theatre into our next era of excellence and am proud of the exceptional staff/board team that surrounds and supports me! Our focus will be solidly mission driven: producing high quality Broadway shows with unique casting and delivering on our commitment to theatre education. We will continue to extend our reach into the community with innovative partnerships and programs," Barrie said.
