IRS 'Super Saturday' offers free help to taxpayers

IRS offices across the state will provide basic tax preparation for people making less than $42,000 per year Saturday.

IRS offices across the state will provide basic tax preparation for people making less than $42,000 per year Saturday.

The event, called "Super Saturday," runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at these locations:

  • Charlotte, 10715 David Taylor Drive
  • Fayetteville, 225 Green Street
  • Greensboro, 320 Federal Place
  • Hickory, 115 Fifth Ave NW
  • Raleigh, 4405 Bland Road
  • Wilmington, 3340 Jaeckle Drive
IRS employees on Saturday will answer tax questions, accept payments and work out payment agreements for those struggling to pay.

Taxpayers seeking help are asked to bring:

  • Social Security Cards and birth dates for individual, spouse and dependents
  • Wage and earning statements from all employers
  • Interest and dividend statements from banks
  • A copy of last year's federal and state returns, if available
  • Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit
  • If applicable, amount paid for day care and the day care provider's tax
  • identifying number (Social Security Number or business Employer Identification Number)
