My oh my – Cubs deliver face-fulls of 'pie'

Cub scouts at Pack 352 in north Raleigh had an incentive to participate in the unit's annual fundraising popcorn sale: cream pies in the faces of their favorite adult leaders.

A pie for the big guy
RALEIGH, N.C. — Pie in your eye from a short blue guy? Sure, if it's fun and a big reward – for him.

Leaders at Cub Scout Pack 352, based at St. Francis of Assisi Church in north Raleigh, offered the Cubs an incentive for being good salesmen during the annual popcorn fundraising sale in the 12-county Occoneechee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

For every $400 worth of popcorn sold, a boy got to "share" a cream pie with someone. And "someone" included the boys' adult leaders.

The pack topped $32,000 in sales for the fall campaign, so pies abounded.

Tip to adult: Cool Whip apparently makes a great styling gel, if you like white.

The Cub Scout pack gets $30 percent of popcorn sales to support its activities. A similar portion goes to fund council operations.
