— The winners of the 7th annual Goodmon regional awards were announced to a sold-out crowd Thursday evening at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.

The winners were selected from four community service categories and were chosen for exhibiting leadership.

Winners this year were Bill Shore, Becky Heron, the Triangle Leadership Academy and the Upper Neuse Clean Water Initiative.

“We are so pleased to celebrate Triangle leadership at the 2008 Goodmon Awards. The region has a wealth of leaders and the decision was very difficult,” said Winkie La Force, Executive Director, Leadership Triangle. “We believe the winners represent the diversity and abundance of our outstanding leaders who will lead us into the 21st century.”

The awards is named for Jim Goodmon, president and CEO of Capitol Broadcasting – the parent company of WRAL-TV.
