Durham, N.C. — Elementary school students have a chance to name the mascot for Durham's new public information campaign for its street paving program.
The mascot is part of the “Operation Green Light” campaign to keep residents informed about paving projects. A Web site for the program is being built.
The deadline for the contest is Oct. 13, and each student can submit more than one suggestion. City officials will recognize the winner at the Oct. 20 City Council meeting, and the student will receive a $50 gift certificate from Northgate Merchants.
