KINSTON, N.C. — Basketball player Jerry Stackhouse, a native of Kinston and member of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, is donating $50,000 to a Lenoir diabetes program.

Stackhouse's Triple Threat Foundation is making the donation to the Lenoir Memorial Foundation to benefit the diabetes program at the Minges Wellness Center at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The money will fund three nursing scholarships, and the program will be re-named in honor of Stackhouse's mother, Minnie, a diabetes sufferer.

Stackhouse lost two sisters to compilations of diabetes.
