In recognizing the department, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention cited surveys that showed fewer teens in Chapel Hill reported drinking and binge drinking.<br />

The department was named 2008 Law Enforcement Partner of the Year at the 10th Annual National Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tenn., on Aug. 22.
