The Raleigh Police officers who fired their weapons in an attempt to stop a domestic violence attack Jan. 21 will not face criminal charges, Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman has determined.
Freeman's investigation is a standard operating procedure when an officer is involved in a shooting.

Police responded to a report of a burglary on Democracy Street, south of downtown Raleigh. They found that Antonio Rodrigues had broken into the home of his ex-wife and shot and killed her companion.
In a call to 911, the woman said she had a protective order against Rodrigues.
According to reports from police, when officers entered the home Rodrigues met them armed with a gun in the garage. The report said officers gave repeated commands to drop the gun he was holding, which is when Rodrigues "fired multiple shots at the officers."
Master Officer Max Gillick was shot and seriously injured.
Officers returned fire, killing Rodrigues.
Freeman wrote, "In reviewing this evidence, the District Attorney has concluded that the use of force was justified and that no charges will be pursued against the officers."
