A popular sausage brand made in the state has paused operations.
Neese's Country Sausage in Greensboro is a long-time North Carolina staple.

Sabriena Tuck said she's been eating it for decades.
"That's the only sausage I really knew by name," Tuck said.
WRAL News started hearing from people back in December that Neece's products were becoming hard to find.
Tuck pointed out the empty spot in her local Food Lion in Raleigh.
"It would have been right here," she said.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Agriculture said its Food Safety and Inspection Division issued a "Notice of Suspension" for part of Neese's production facility in Greensboro in September 2025.
A spokesperson said that happened "after a determination that the establishment was not meeting the requirements of 9 C.F.R. § 430 for its ready-to-eat processes."
The USDA said that the company has not requested inspectors to come back to its facility, meaning production cannot continue.
Tuck says the end of Neese's would mean the end of a long-time family tradition.
"A good piece of sausage, some eggs, some coffee in the morning, that is how we got our day started. It was always Neese's," she said.
WRAL News reached out to the owner of the company multiple times. We did not hear back.
