Those waiting for their North Carolina state tax refund checks will have to wait even longer, after the state confirmed its printing partner went out business.
The North Carolina Department of Revenue confirmed on Monday that Professional Mail Services, Inc., ceased operations and won't be completing any further print or mail services for the agency.

The department said that it has been made aware that some notices and refund checks were not printed and mailed.
Agency officials said they are "in the process of identifying options to resume printing and mailing notices and refund checks as quickly as possible."
The delays will affect those who filed a paper return or requested a paper check.
Further updates would be posted on the department's website. Anyone with questions about their account is asked to call Customer Service at 1-877-252-3052.
State tax refund delays are nothing new. WRAL's 5 On Your Side helped an Apex couple, who waited four months for a refund check. Most returns are done within 21 days.
At the time, the department told WRAL that refunds can take longer as they review tax returns to detect identity theft and refund fraud. Filers may also be contacted for additional information.
Use the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website. For those who wish to track their state refunds, the NCDOR has created an update page that will provide updates on when the issue is resolved.
Updates are made in the system within 24 hours of filing electronically or in about four weeks if you filed a paper return.
