Inmate sentenced to 35 years in prison for murder for hire plot

A Raleigh man was sentenced to over 30 years in prison after he was convicted for his role in a murder-for-hire scheme.

Nahro Sudoi Innab, 70, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison on Thursday for two murder for hire plots. It comes after a Raleigh jury convicted him of three counts of Interstate phone calls in a Murder-for-Hire scheme.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Innab attempted to pay other inmates $10,000 per murder while in jail waiting to be sentenced. The targets were small business owners in Rocky Mount, officials said.

A cooperating defendant informed the FBI of the plot and captured an audio recording of Innab’s murder plan. 

U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina Ellis Boyle called Innab's plan "terror-spread behavior" and would not be tolerated.

"He can take his time to learn his lesson for the next 3 and a half decades,” Boyle said.

The FBI, Rocky Mount Police Department, NC ALE, and the USMS collaborated on this multi-year investigation. Assistant United States Attorney John P. Newby, Jr., prosecuted the case​.
