Man dead after being shot multiple times in Raleigh neighborhood, suspect arrested

A man has died from his injuries after being shot multiple times in a Raleigh neighborhood early Friday morning. 

The Raleigh Police Department responded to a call on Pettis Place, which is a small street right in front of the Raleigh National Cemetery next to Rock Quarry Road, around 2:10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12.

When they arrived, they found 42-year-old Derrick Bell with multiple gunshot wounds. 

He was taken to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries. Raleigh police confirmed that he died of his injuries as of Tuesday. 

Police identified and arrested 43-year-old Bryant Baldwin in connection to this shooting. He was charged with murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. Baldwin is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. 

Police did not provide any details as to how they connected Baldwin to this shooting.
