A man was killed Tuesday night in a shooting at a Durham hotel, one of two shootings under investigation by police.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded to a shooting around 7:18 p.m. at the SureStay Plus hotel located at 3710 Hillsborough Road. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Police told WRAL News the man died at the scene.

Police were also investigating a second shooting just about six miles away in the McDougald Terrace neighborhood. Police radio traffic shows officers responded around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday. At least one person was shot in the foot, according to police radio traffic. WRAL News has reached out to the Durham Police Department for more information on the second shooting.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was at both scenes overnight. There were multiple evidence markers and the area near E. Lawson Street was blocked off with police tape. It was cleared before 2 a.m. 

Police blocked off the parking lot of SureStay Plus hotel until around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Officers used the Durham Police Mobile Command Unit parked outside until around 6 a.m. Officers were inside the lobby investigating for several hours. Police radio traffic indicates the man who died was found in the lobby.
