Man hit in head multiple times with baseball bat inside NC Walmart, police say

A suspect turned himself in after Laurinburg police say a man was hit multiple times in the head with a baseball bat at a Walmart store.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Laurinburg Police Department responded to an assault at the Walmart at 901 U.S. Highway 401.

Police found a 39-year-old man who was disoriented and suffering from multiple injuries.

Investigators said a suspect used a baseball bat to strike the victim in the head multiple times in the sporting goods section of the store.

Police used surveillance video and CrimeStoppers tips to later identify the suspect, who ran out of the garden center and left the scene in a blue sedan.

Police said the suspect, who was not named, surrendered to police.
