A Lee County teacher on Monday received an 18-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult, two counts of sexual act with a student and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Andrew Allen, 34, of Siler City, was a former teacher at San-Lee Middle School.

Authorities initially arrested him on Nov. 2, 2022, for multiple charges of sexual offenses against minors following a report of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

An investigation revealed Allen had several inappropriate relationships with students, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities held him on $2 million bond since subsequent arrests on Nov. 17, 2022, and March 13, 2023.

Allen worked at San-Lee from 2012 to 2022. In a statement, the Lee County Board of Education said Allen had been suspended on Nov. 2, 2022, and resigned his job on Nov. 6, 2022.
