It features wheelchair-friendly ramps, sensory-friendly equipment and inclusive swings.
“This playground represents our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in our parks,” said Joseph Keel, director of Lee County Parks and Recreation. “We are excited to provide a space where all children, regardless of ability, can play and explore together.”
The funding for the park was made possible by the Accessibility for Parks (AFP) Grant that Lee County Parks & Recreation was awarded back in 2023. This grant is a recreational grant that is given by the state of North Carolina to enhance recreational accessibility for children and veterans with disabilities.
O.T. Sloan Park is located at 1420 Bragg St. in Sanford.
