WILMINGTON, N.C. - Attorney General Jeff Jackson is warning veterans across the state about a scam that claims to offer monthly payments and free dental coverage through a "Veterans Saving Program."
That savings program doesn't exist, Jackson said.

The scam uses pressure tactics and tells recipients to call within five days. Scammers then ask for person and financial information.
"Veterans deserve our respect and support, not scams that try to take advantage of their service," Jackson said. "If it sounds like someone is offering you free money - it's probably a scam."
Government agencies will not call, text or email to request personal information or demand money through prepaid gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency or payment apps.
Recipients should verify benefits with Veterans Affairs or government websites.
