Around 40 firefighters responded to a fire at a home in south Durham early Saturday morning.
The Durham Fire Department said that around 2:30 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to a home on Trotter Ridge Road, where firefighters first saw smoke coming from the eaves and visible fire from a second-floor gable window.

Only one person was home at the time of the fire, and was awake to get out of the house in time. They were able to evacuate without any injuries.
The person declined assistance from the American Red Cross, but the press release from DFD does not mention if this person would be displaced from their home.
No firefighters were injured in the process.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
