Officials said crews attempted to put out the flames inside of the home but backed out due to the home’s condition and the fire. The fire then spread through the home and caused it to collapse, officials said.

The fire was brought under control at 2:19 a.m., but officials said crews stayed on the scene until 6:57 a.m. to salvage and overhaul the home.

No injuries were reported. The three people displaced are being assisted by the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
