The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a stolen car that led troopers on a chase before crashing over a guard rail at the intersection of Lake Wheeler Road and I-40 in Raleigh Wednesday morning.
Troopers on the scene told WRAL News the chase started on I-440 near Poole Road around 1 a.m. The man who was driving the car was going more than 110 miles per hour in a 60, 50 miles per hour over the speed limit. The car also did not have its lights on.

After the driver did not stop, troopers chased the car on I-440 for less than 10 miles.
The driver took the Lake Wheeler Road exit, hit a median and catapulted over the guard rail into trees.
Troopers said the man then ran into the wooded area.
Authorities on the scene told WRAL News the car was reported stolen.
State Highway Patrol and Wake County Sheriff's Office deputies surrounded the wooded area near Lake Wheeler Road and Centennial Parkway. Some officers were on the lookout near NC State's campus off Centennial and the State Farmer's Market.

State Highway Patrol said they believe they know the identity of the driver.
As of 3 a.m., they have not found the man.
