A Halifax County detention officer is accused of giving contraband to inmates months after being hired.
On May 4, investigators say they received credible reports from inmates regarding illegal products within the Halifax County Detention Center. During the investigation, some of the items were recovered from inside the jail.

Xzhavier Montre Robinson, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, was on the job just over two months before he was arrested.
Robinson is charged with providing tobacco/vapor products to an inmate. He was given a $750 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Halifax District Court on June 3.
The arrest comes days after the North Carolina SBI announced an investigation into three detention officers recently fired for allegedly assaulting an inmate at the Harnett County Detention Center.
