GoTriangle announces $2 million for Triangle mobility hub project

A new transit hub in the Triangle has secured $2 million in funding,  GoTriangle officials announced Thursday. 

The Triangle Mobility Hub project will be located in Research Triangle Park. It will function as a intermodal transit center linking bus service, micro-transit and paratransit with future bus transit, passenger rail and the Triangle Bikeway. 

The project received $2 million in Community Project Funding from the federal government's  “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026,” which provides funding for federal agencies, national priorities and community projects throughout the nation.

The new facility will expand GoTriangle's bus service across the region.

“At GoTriangle, our mission is ‘connecting people and the region with high-quality transit,’ and the Triangle Mobility Hub is another crucial step in fulfilling that mission,” said GoTriangle President/CEO Dr. Brian Smith.

Construction is expected to begin on the hub in 2027 with an anticipated completion date of 2029.
