Garner police have arrested a kidnapping suspect who led police on a chase that ended in a crash on Christmas night.
The incident began when Garner police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 25-year-old Daveaun Whittle for having expired tags on his vehicle while driving on Garden Glen Drive.

Instead of complying, Whittle presented the officer with a photo of his ID on his cell phone and then sped away.
Broadcastify radio traffic reported: "Subject just took off near Garner Glen, which is a dead end."
It was later discovered that Whittle was wanted on a kidnapping warrant out of New York and faced full extradition.
On Monday, Dec. 30, Whittle was arrested by the Wake County Sheriff's Office.
On Dec. 25, Whittle led police on a high-speed chase down Fayetteville Road, reaching speeds exceeding 90 miles per hour before eventually crashing.
Garner police said the crash happened on Fayetteville Road near U.S. 401. Police said the car involved rolled over, but no one was injured.
Broadcastify radio traffic indicated that Whittle mentioned heading towards a friend's residence near the intersection of Fayetteville Road and Ten Ten Road.
Whittle has a criminal history in New York, including a conviction for reckless endangerment.
The Garner wreck was one of three crashes on Christmas in central North Carolina. In Raleigh, two cars were involved in a crash that took out several powerlines and stoplights on Capital Boulevard.
In Goldsboro, a driver was killed in a crash on North Beston Road at Parkston Road.
