Five County Stadium renamed Nomaco Park under new partnership

Five County Stadium in Zebulon has a new name.

The stadium will now be called Nomaco Park, Capitol Broadcasting Co. and Zebulon-based Nomaco Inc. announced Thursday.

“This partnership is about much more than naming rights,” said CBC Sports Vice President Mike Birling. “Nomaco has been part of the Zebulon community for decades, and their leadership team immediately stood out for their vision, passion, and long-term commitment to the region. They were the right partner to help us build something truly special for the future of Zebulon and Eastern Wake County, and we’re proud to officially welcome fans to Nomaco Park.”

For nearly 35 years, Five County Stadium has served as a landmark gathering place for the region. Under the new partnership, Nomaco Park will build on that legacy while ushering in a new chapter centered around baseball, community events, concerts, festivals and year-round activities. Primary tenants at Nomaco Park include the Zebulon Devil Dogz of the Coastal Plain League and Wake Technical Community College athletics. Additional events and programming planned throughout the calendar year.

The 2026 season marks the Zebulon Devil Dogz' inaugural season. 

Five County Stadium was previously home to the Carolina Mudcats. The team owners announced in 2023 that after more than 30 years they would move to a new $69 million stadium in Wilson near Whirligig Park. The Mudcats are now the Wilson Warbirds, the Class-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Devil Dogz have a partnership with Ozball Australia, meaning Zebulon’s roster is exclusively featuring college players from Australia.

“This partnership is really about investing in the community that’s been home to Nomaco for so many years, while also investing in its future,” said Bryan Bunker, President of Nomaco. “We’re proud to put the Nomaco name on a place that will bring people in our area together.”

Capitol Broadcasting Co. is the parent company of WRAL.

“As we went through the process of identifying a naming rights partner, it became clear very quickly that Nomaco was the right fit,” said CBC Director of Business Development Nick Bavin. “Their leadership team shared our vision for what this venue can become, but just as importantly, they share a deep commitment to the Zebulon community and the people who live and work here every day.
