'A pretty big fire': 15 people impacted by Morrisville apartment fire

Fifteen people were forced out of their homes Friday as crews worked to extinguish a fire at a Morrisville apartment complex.

The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. at the Huntington Apartments on Duck Pond Circle in Morrisville.

Firefighters said no one was injured, and all pets were accounted for.

The fire started on the second floor and damaged two apartment units. Other units in the building had smoke and water damage. 

There was also heavy damage to the roof, which had a massive hole. 

Families in a total of eight units were impacted. The American Red Cross was at the scene to assist.

The complex is located off Morrisville Parkway near Davis Drive.

Marshall Crawley was spending the night at his girlfriend's apartment.

"I put on the first clothes I could find, I got outside, I heard sirens ... there was already several firetrucks here," he said.

A resident sent WRAL News a photo of smoke visible in one of the buildings.

"It was a pretty big fire," Crawley said. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
