Jacob Edward Jones, 24, was fired Wednesday from the Fayetteville Police Department after being charged with six counts of misdemeanor sexual battery.
Jones was hired in November 2022 and assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.

The investigation began after the Fayetteville Police Department's Office of Professional Standards was notified on an incident that occurred on May 13, 2025.
On that date, Jones was working with another officer to review surveillance video of a situation on Bragg Boulevard. The other officer claimed that during that interaction, Jones touched her inappropriately multiple times.
"We hold our officers to the highest possible standard," said the Fayetteville Police Department in a statement. "When an officer is accused of a crime, we will conduct a thorough and professional investigation and hold them accountable for their actions. No one is above the law."
On Thursday, Jones heard his charges read in court and saw his bond reduced from $25,000 to $10,000.
His attorney, Andrew G. Dualan, said, "There are six counts. They all stem from the same series of transactions. In my opinion it is overcharged in this case."
