Man taken to hospital after early morning shooting at Durham apartment complex

Durham police are investigating after a man was found shot several times early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a reported shooting around 5 a.m. at Oxford Manor, an apartment complex on Keystone Place near Old Oxford Road. 

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was on the scene. Investigators said a man was shot four times before he was found behind an apartment unit.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital. We are working to get an update on his injuries.

As of 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, no one was in custody.

In April, the city of Durham announced it would fund safety improvements at Oxford Manor after receiving strong support from voters on the measure through the Participatory Budgeting program.

The $150,000 investment would add brighter lighting and new security cameras around the affordable housing community, which has come after at least five shootings there since Jan. 2025.
