A man is in the hospital after being shot in his car at a Durham County intersection, according to the Durham County Sheriff's Office. 

Around noon Tuesday, deputies said that witnesses saw two cars stopped in the left-hand turn lane of Globe Road.

The driver of a matte black coupe, possibly a Mustang or Camaro, allegedly got out of the car and fired multiple rounds into a grey BMW. 

Deputies said the shooter then fled the scene south on Page Road toward Interstate 40. The victim drove north and made his way into a parking lot at the intersection of S. Miami Boulevard and T.W. Alexander Drive. 

The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Deputies said the investigation is still in the early stages, and it is unclear what the motive for the shooting was. Deputies are searching for the suspect. 

Sky 5 flew over Durham police and deputies as they surrounded a silver sedan with bullet holes in the shattered back windshield.
