A man and woman were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and a child was taken by social services on Tuesday after a couple drove to a Durham County Sheriff's Office location to get help for their injuries.
Deputies said Emergency Medical Services brought both the driver and passenger to the hospital after a black sedan entered the parking area of the sheriff's office's east substation along Wake Forest Highway (N.C. Highway 98).

It's unclear how either person was shot. On Wednesday, the office said the shooting was part of a domestic dispute and that their injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. A child was in the car during the ordeal. The child was not hurt and placed in DSS custody. Investigators found a gun in the car.
Durham authorities blocked off part of Wake Forest Highway (N.C. Highway 98) as the situation was unfolding.
Sky 5 flew over the scene as authorities investigated a black sedan just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The investigation happened right at the entrance of the substation, which is next to John W. Neal Middle School.
A spokesperson for Durham Public Schools said the middle school was on lockdown due to law enforcement being in the area, but clarified that nothing occurred inside the building.
The lockdown was issued at 1:18 p.m. and was lifted by law enforcement by 1:34 p.m.
