Drivers can be fined up to $2000 for failing to clear snow off their vehicles

WXII - Greensboro, NC - With heavy snow falling, it's important to remember to clean off your vehicle, or you may face a hefty fine. 

The Greensboro Police Department said you should clean the snow and ice off your car before you hit the road. 

"When you don't, it poses an unnecessary danger to others," the department said. 

Drivers can be charged with failing to secure a load if ice falls off their car and damages another person or their property. 

The penalty is up to $2,000 in fines and one point on your license. 

The Greensboro Police Department said that is a driver is involved in a crash due to their view being blocked by snow or ice, they could be liable.
