Police said the juvenile died from his injuries.
Witnesses told WRAL it began as an altercation between two cars, and it eventually erupted into a "shoot out."
The parking lot of gas station was closed off nearly six hours. Omar Mohamed, manager at the gas station, told WRAL that not only did the shooting impact business for the day, it also put employees in harms way.
According to him, the gas station has only been open for three months and he has seen multiple shootings occur, but he hopes something changes soon.
"I hope that [police] take it serious as soon as possible. Because we are in a dangerous moment right now," Mohamed said. "Now I when I come to work I don’t even know if I’m going to come back or not.”
Police in a release said they are determining the circumstances behind the shooting and asked anyone if information to call them at 919-560-4440 ext. 29414 or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200 or online.
