Caterpillar is bringing 600 new jobs to its Sanford manufacturing facility.

The company will hold an announcement at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at its site at 5016 Womack Road.

According to Caterpillar, 600 production workers will be hired at the Lee County facility. The company will also provide a behind-the-scenes look at its operations during Wednesday's event.

After some layoffs in 2008 due to a reduced demand for homebuilding materials, Caterpillar announced it would expand the Sanford plant in 2010, bringing back 300 positions that were previously eliminated. 

Caterpillar also operates a facility in Clayton.
