Woman drowns in Cary pond

A woman drowned at a pond in Cary on Monday afternoon.

First responders found the woman in a pond near a home in the 8000 block of Piney Branch Drive just after 1:30 p.m.

Emergency teams were able to recover her body. The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation.

The woman's name was not released. Cary police and Wake paramedics responded.
