The Carrboro Police Department on Saturday shared images of a person believed to be the man who attacked a woman on the Frances Shetley Bikeway on Thursday morning.
Police asked that anyone who can identify the person seen in the images call Sgt. Velazquez at 919-918-7413 or Chapel Hill-Carrboro Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

The largely blurry images show a person wearing dark pants and a lighter colored hoodie. Police hope that someone familiar with that person may recognize them.
Officers are gathering evidence after a woman reported being attacked on the bikeway early Thursday between North Greensboro and Shelton streets. They asked that anyone with surveillance images or video captured Thursday between midnight and 1:30 a.m. near the bikeway share it with them. Areas of particular interest are:
- Hillsborough Road between North Greensboro and West Main streets
- Greensboro Street between Estes Drive and Hillsborough Road, and between North Greensboro Street and Village Drive
- Williams Street near Wilson Park
- Pine Street
- East Poplar Avenue between Ashe and Elm streets
- Ashe Street between Carrboro Elementary School and East Poplar Avenue
- Elm Street between East Poplar Avenue and the Frances Shetley bikeway
